The Omega Collaborative invites you to join Alnoor Ladha and Lynn Murphy in conversation with Michael Lerner to discuss their new book Post Capitalist Philanthropy: Healing Wealth in the Time of Collapse.

Post Capitalist Philanthropy takes us on a journey from the history of wealth accumulation to the current logic of late-stage capitalism to the lived possibilities for other ways of knowing, sensing and being that can usher in life-centric models. These “ontological shifts,” as they are called, are at the heart of the text. Creating emerging realities is not simply about how we redistribute wealth or “fight power,” but, rather, how we perceive and embody our actions in relationship to a dynamic, animate world.

This work is a result of decades of practice and research, including a hundred plus interviews with leading thinkers, practitioners, social scientists and wisdom keepers including: include Vandana Shiva, Rupa Marya, Bayo Akomolafe, Tiokasin Ghosthorse, Vanessa Andreotti, and others.

“To my fellow colleagues in philanthropy: Many of us have begun to recognize that the current structures of our sector – and the beliefs they imprint upon us – don’t truly serve the work we wish to shepherd. Well, buckle up! Herein lies the motherlode that can help us bring radical insight to the field…” – Andrea Panaritis

“This book is the bone-rattling equivalent of a visit to the wild shaman’s house: you’d suppose you made the brief trip to get some medicinal items, but there are often more things in their brew than are dreamt of in your plans…” – Bayo Akomolafe

“Alnoor and Lynn have thrown down a gauntlet: Time for philanthropy workers and owners of philanthropic resources to re-engage the relational and distribution contradictions in their life world, and to take deep stock of the mega-paradox at root in the support of democratic evolution through undemocratic ownership and management of wealth. They raise the critical question: Can philanthropy be leveraged to effect changes that make the world a safer and better place for all of us?” – Colin Greer
