Pooja Sood

Pooja Sood is a founding member and Director of Khoj International Artists’ Association which is a not-for-profit society committed to experimentation and exchange in the visual arts in India. Under her stewardship, Khoj has grown from an annual event in 1997 to a vibrant building-based institution which plays a central role in the development of interdisciplinary, experimental and critical contemporary art practice in India and South Asia. As Director of Khoj, she has worked actively to build a robust network of experimental spaces across south Asia resulting in the South Asian Network for the Arts (SANA). 

Pooja Sood’s contribution has been in the field of curating alternative contemporary art practices in India as well as exploring different models of collaboration and institution building in India and South Asia. Sood has served on several international juries including the IAPA award of the Institute of Public Art, Shanghai (2014), the Asia Pacific Breweries Signature prize hosted by the Singapore Art Museum (2014-15) and the Korean Art prize, Seoul (2013). 

Since 2009, Sood has been serving as the Director of ARThinkSouthAsia (ATSA), an arts management program for young managers in the cultural sphere. ATSA has been successful in providing a leadership springboard to more than 200 arts managers who work in the intersections of design, media, performance, visual arts and community arts and social arts practices. From November 2015 to February 2019, Sood served as the Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur.
